Roast Chicken Sliders … with Vernaccia (a Tuscan White Wine)

Pairing: Tuscan Roast Chicken Sliders Paired with a 2014 Costello Montauto Vernaccia di san Gimignano

Food: Sometimes, you just want something simple for dinner. We don’t want you to think that all we eat is fancy food! Here we have roast chicken slices in slider buns, served with a few raw vegetables and potato salad. Looks like a good way to present left-overs — and what’s wrong with that? The internet will tell you what to pour with lots of elaborate menus, but how about the simple, homey meals like this? The chicken is from a meal of Tuscan Roast Chicken. The slider buns are our favorite: Martin’s Potato Bun Sliders from Pennsylvania.

Wine: 2014 Vernaccia di San Gimignano from Castello Montauto.

Vernaccia Redone

Francisco Prestini at Medium.com wrote, “Vernaccia di San Gimignano is made from Vernaccia grapes, which are indigenous to the region. These grapes have been cultivated in the area for centuries, and their distinct qualities contribute to the exceptional nature of the wine. The vineyards of San Gimignano benefit from a favorable microclimate, with warm summers and cool breezes that help the grapes develop their signature flavors.”

Tasting Notes: The nose features aromas of white flowers with a hint of citrus. On the palate it is crisp, reminiscent of a tart apple or pear. We want an Italian white wine to be crisp and fresh, and this Vernaccia does not disappoint. It pairs well with the sliders, continuing the meal’s breezy, casual vibe. Put a good Vernaccia on your next shopping list.
